Podi Dosa

This is my mom’s recipe; dosas are super soft and taste delightful.

Preparation time: 1 night ( for soaking )

Cooking time: 10 mins

Ingredients: For dosa batter 

Black gram – 1 cup

Rice – 2 cups

Flattened rice – 1 cup

Bengal gram – 3 table spoons

Buttermilk – 2 table spoons

Fenugreek seeds – 1 pinch 

Salt to taste 

* Soak the flattened rice separately in 2 table spoons of butter milk. Soak the rest in water; over night. * 

Oil as required 

Podi:

Sesame seeds – 8 table spoons 

Dried red chillies – 4 

Salt to taste

Recipe:

1) After soaking overnight, grind the ingredients in a mixer grinder. The batter should be coarse in texture. Add salt in the batter, mix well.

2) For podi – In a skillet , dry roast the sesame seeds and dried red chillies. Let them cool to room temperature and grind into fine powder. Add salt to taste and mix well.

2) Heat the dosa pan, add a few drops of oil and start rolling the dosas.

3) Now add podi on the upper side of dosa. Don’t flip the dosa, as by doing this the sesame powder will burn and ruin the taste of dosa. 

4) Let the dosa cook for 2 mins and its ready to be served!
