Have you ever tried making upma with broken wheat? Its super healthy, belly filling and apparently good for weight loss. This is quick and simple recipe; however you can make customize it your choice of veggies and add them.
** Broken wheat upma **
Preparation time: 15 mins
Cooking time : 15 mins
Broken wheat – 2 cups
Peanuts – 1 handful
Red dried chillies – 2
Mustard seeds – 1/2 table spoon
Chana dal – 1/2 table spoon
Oil – 1 table spoon
Heeng- 1 pinch
Salt to taste
1) In a microwaveable bowl, wash the broken wheat and cook it with water for 12 mins (the texture will become soft and you can smell the cooked broken wheat).
2) In a heated skillet; add oil, mustard seeds, chanal dal, heeng, and dried red chillies; let them pop. To this add peanuts and roast them (till you notice the change in color; be careful not to burn them)
3) Add the cooked broken wheat and salt to taste to this seasoning with peanuts in the skillet. Mix thoroughly.
Broken wheat upma is ready to eat! Enjoy with pickle or by itself.
