Besibele Bath

Besibele bath has its roots from Karnataka, however it spread its aroma to all over India and is a heavenly dish for all ages. Its healthy and super quick to cook. 

** Besibele bath **

Preparation time: 15 mins 

Cooking time: 18 mins 


Basmati rice – 2 cups

Tomato – 1 (large, diced)

Onion – 1 (large, diced)

Green beans – 150 grams

Corn kernels – 150 grams 

Green peas – 150 grams 

Green chillies – 6 (finely chopped)

Tamarind paste – 3 table spoons (take some tamarind and mix it with warm water draining the seeds to make a thick paste)

Sambar powder – 2 table spoons 

Sesame powder – 2 table spoons (dry roast sesame seeds with dried red chillies; cool to room temperature and grind to fine powder)

Heeng powder – 1 1/2 pinch

Salt to taste 

Ghee – 1 table spoon (optional)

Coriander to garnish


1) Wash the rice thoroughly.

2) In a pressure cooker add rice, veggies, sambar powder, sesame powder, tamarind paste, and green chillies (add water according to your regular rice cooking style). Let it cook (it will take about 17 minutes to cook thoroughly).

3) Add heeng, salt to taste, and heeng; mix thoroughly. Garnish with coriander. 

Best when served with papad and pickle. Enjoy…!
